Rectangular selection: is to select a part of a picture, is like the circular selection but the difference is that this one is a rectangle. You select the tool and then in the picture select the part that you want to select. Then you can move the selected part.
Circular selection: with this tool is almost the same. But this one is used to select circular things. It’s the same process.
Hand drawn region Selection: is to select too. But in this one you can go
selecting the form that you want. You click in the tool that looks like a loop and then in the picture go by maintain clicked and then you go tracing the shape until you get to the beginning.
Magic wand: with this tool you can select regions by colors. You select the tool and then click in the part of the picture that you want to select the color then the entire zone with the same color. Thbis ould be similar to the ones before but it uses a different tactic.
Move: this tool is used to move the picture of something selected.
Gradient Fill: It is a tool used to color with a preselected combination; you just press and drag any preselected combination of gradient that you like.
Brush: It serves as the common brush we use, you may draw lines, select the thickness, shape, texture, color, and opacity you want for your line.
Masks: To create a mask you must right click on the layer that you wish to create a mask on, select layer´s alpha channel. There the mask is created; its purpose is to difuminate, make the layer you selected a part of it transparent to allow the background to be seen. So now that you created the mask you just click and drag were you want the mask to work.
Change order of layers: The purpose of arranging the order of the layers is to allow some layers to be shown on top of the others. You are able to do this by clicking on the arrows that are below the layer box.
Merge Pictures: This is a tool used to join two layers together, so that you can move then around and they will be sticked together. In contrast to the chain that connects them together for a while, this action may not be undone and makes two or more layers become one. To do this you right click on th layer you wish to merge and select the option merge down.
Text: to put text in your photo, you have to click in the icon that has an upper case T, and than click in the document, where you want the text to be. A small box will appear in your left-hand corner, and there you have to write the text, you want to include. After you finish writing, you have to close that window, and at the right, in the tools window, you have the option to change font, size, color, justify or indent, your text

Eye dropper: Whenever you want to have the same color from any part from your photo, in another part of you picture, you can always use the eye dropper to have the correct selection of the color you want.
Zoom: If you want to have a closer look to a section of your picture, the best tool to use is the zoom tool. It looks like a magnifying glass, and when you choose it, you have to select the section you want to zoom in, and then you can easily work on the part you want to see.
Crop: when you want to select a part of the picture and erase everything else, you have to use the crop tool, which looks like a knife.
Fill: This tool is used to color the inside of a shape or object entirely of one specific, plain color you choose, or maybe a pattern you want your figure to have. This tool is a gray bucket with red paint dropping from it.
Vocabulary Canvas: The working space you have in an image. Alpha Channel: Means the transparent channel. .xcf: Extension used to save documents to work on gimp shop. .png: Extension used to save pictures with transparent backgrounds. .jpg: Extension used to save pictures.
